B.A. (Hons.) Liberal Arts and Humanities

Liberal Arts is a ground-breaking pedagogy focused on modest classes, close staff student engagement and a well-built interdisciplinary foundation by way of specialisations in detailed subjects. Liberal Arts is about the development of the whole individual all the way through careful reading and writing, along with vigorous experiential learning.

Over the initial two years of the BA, students train in the introductory aspects of the liberal arts and humanities all the way through core courses, electives at JLSH and choose courses across the diverse schools of the University. They carry out one-month internships amid every semester. In the final year of the BA they select a major – one subject – the same as an area for determined study and they put in writing a thesis. The thesis in the third year is a thorough work of significant length and deepness over a subject area.
