How to write HEC Application Essays

Why are you applying to the HEC MBA Program now? What is the professional objective that will guide your career choice after your MBA, and how will the HEC MBA contribute to the achievement of this objective?
What do you consider your most significant life achievement?
Leadership and ethics are inevitably intertwined in the business world. Describe a situation in which you have dealt with these issues and how they have influenced you.
Imagine a life entirely different from the one you now lead, what would it be?
Please choose from one of the following essays:
a) What monument or site would you advise a first-time visitor to your country or city to discover, and why?
b) Certain books, movies or plays have had an international success that you believe to be undeserved. Choose an example and analyse it.
c) What figure do you most admire and why? You may choose from any field (arts, literature, politics, business, etc).
Suggestions for HEC Essays
HEC through it's whole process evaluates applicants on the basis of their academic strength, with an ability to adapt their existing knowledge and contribute to the MBA curriculum.
Next comes an evidence of a clear career progress over time, and that the applicant has achieved excellence on the professional front.
The applicant should be able to demonstrate a strong sense of personal direction in order to achieve his/her chosen career goals.
Mention specific instances of accomplishments which show leadership in community, career or personal life.
The essays are a great place for the applicant to showcase their international exposure, i.e. experiences of collaborating with people of different cultures. The school values global citizens with the ability to lead teams from all over the world and collaborate with people of different backgrounds.
Clarity of post MBA short term and long term goals should be visible from the application. Last but not the least, HEC values the ability to lead teams with passion and humility. Include examples from your experience which outline the above points to show your personality.
An MBA applicant is expected to feel intensely about something, even if he is not completely clear about what to do with that yet. It’s not a binding for the graduate if he isn’t in the job he said he would want to be in upon graduation. It is a blunder though, if a candidate is not able to impressively walk through the admissions team through his vision and potential with a story through his application.
