ISB Journals - ISB YLP Application journey
Q1 Please discuss your profile briefly.
I am a graduate from Lady Shri Ram college for Women and currently working In Arcesium which is a Fintech company. My role is in business development area and I work as an associate in Implementation and Special Projects group. I applied to ISB YLP in 2019 and was successful in achieving an admit.
Q2 How did you shortlist the schools to apply to, why ISB YLP? What were the key points that you were looking for?
The batch composition was the main point I looked into and location (I wanted to stay in India so shortlisted the best Indian colleges). ISB YLP offered a unique flexibility within India to pursue a career and develop my skills before I joined my ISB MBA after two years.
Q3 What do you think was the most important decision you took during your ISB YLP application process? And Why?
I was working while I was applying to ISB YLP and realised that I needed assistance to give my best in the application. The most important decision was which consulting to choose. Many companies just loot you and doesn’t give the required services. I went with Goalisb and was happy with its services.
Q4 What was the most challenging part of submitting your application to different schools including ISB YLP? Please discuss how you handled these? Any pointers for future applicants to ISB YLP?
I submitted my applications to 2 schools. I was successful in both. I concentrated on one application at one time and tried to talk to many alums who have similar background this helped me gain better insights about my future career prospects. Clarity of goals helped me with my ISB YLP application process.
Q5 What was the interview experience like? Did you feel you were well prepared at the time of the interview? What all resources did you access to prepare for the interview? Which of these provided the most valuable inputs?
I took consulting services from Goalisb hence I was pretty confident. Interview was smooth. The best advice that I received from Goalisb about ISB YLP interviews was to be yourself and be honest the rest is all secondary.
Q6 What are some myths that every applicant must leave behind before they start the application process especially for ISB YLP?
One myth I have heard is GMAT score is the main component for selection for ISB YLP. - Never underestimate your profile on the basis of college GPA, extra curricular, years of experience etc.
Q7 Any suggestions for future applicants as a person who has been there, done that successfully!
Shortlist schools after looking into many factors and concentrate on your goal throughout the process -Be calm throughout the process!! It helps a person a lot.
