MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION IN FINANCE (MSCB) - UBC Sauder


The UBC MSc in Business Administration is a difficult and rigorous program intended for students interested in research who prepare for a doctoral program and subsequent academic career.


UBC Sauder offers the RBC Women in Finance Graduate Scholarship to an incoming student who will launch our Finance MSc Program in September 2020.


Annually a $25,000 grant is given to outstanding female graduate students in the M.Sc Finance Stream by the Royal Bank of Canada. in the UBC Sauder School of Business Administration program.


The scholarship can be extended for one more year of study , based upon the recipient's continued satisfactory academic development. Such scholarship can only be presented to one student in one year. The bursary is made in consultation with the Fa on the recommendation of the UBC Sauder School of Business.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT DEADLINE: 31 December 2020

Schulich Master of Finance (MF)


The Master of Finance (MF) in Schulich offers students the solid foundations of real life and research required for an enjoyable career in modern finance.


Students learn about corporate finance, risk management, private equity, compliance, and more. Courses focus on applications and contexts in the real world. The MF program combines important subjects of governance, ethics and the legal aspects of finance.


In addition , students attend financial research seminars and seminars with Ethics and Governance courses and options to focus on either capital markets or financial risk management. The program will also include seminars on the financial markets.


The Schulich MF is a Program Member of CFA, the regional industry standard for finance professionals, the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute. The MF curriculum covers a large part of the knowledge base of the CFA, enabling students to prepare for all of their MF levels. CFA services, scholarships and industrial networking activities also support students.


The Schulich MF program will provide you with the knowledge of financing that leads the complex business environment in today's world. Recruiters respect Schulich MF's graduates' technological skills, financial decision-making and communication skills.

1. Masters of Management Analytics

The first application deadline is November 19.


Application Requirements:

Four-year degree

A GPA of at least 3.0 in quantitative courses that cover subjects such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Statistics or Econometrics is required. 

Proficient in computer programming.

Minimum TOEFL score of 100 is required, with a minimum of 22 in both writing and speaking, or a minimum IELTS Academic Test with a score of 7.0 with at least 6.5 across all bands.

If you have studied at an English-language university outside of Canada, official confirmation of English as the language of instruction and examination from your university will be required.

Two recommendation forms should be academic, but applicants who are applying with some work experience are welcome to submit one academic and one professional reference.

2. Masters of Finance

Application Requirements

Minimum of two years of work experience in finance or a finance-related field strongly recommended.On average applicants have five years of work experience.

A minimum GPA of 3.0 or a mid-B average in the final year of a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university

A GMAT or GRE score must be submitted, unless you hold one of the following:

Candidates who have passed CFA Level II or Candidates who have passed UFE or CFE through the CA designation OR Candidates who graduated from the University of Toronto with high distinction are exempt from the GMAT/GRE entrance requirement

2 work references

1 written essay (250 words), submitted as part of the online application

TOEFL iBT (internet based test) score of 100 overall, with a minimum of 22 on speaking and writing.IELTS score of 7.0

3. Masters of Financial Risk Management


The first application deadline is November 20, 2019.

Application Requirements

Business, commerce, economics, mathematics, engineering or actuarial science degrees will be preferred, but other 4-year undergraduate degrees will be considered if there is evidence of strong quantitative skills.

A high level of proficiency (a GPA of at least 3.0) in quantitative subjects such as calculus, linear algebra, statistics and econometrics is required.

GMAT / GRE in cases where evidence of quantitative ability is not obvious.

Knowledge of VBA is strongly preferred. 

Minimum TOEFL score of 100 is required, with a minimum of 22 in both writing and speaking, or a minimum IELTS Academic Test with a score of 7.0 with at least 6.5 across all bands. 

Two recommendation forms - both referees should be academic, applicants who are applying to the MFRM with some work experience, are welcome to submit one academic and one professional reference.
