Does IIM Ahmedabad accept GMAT Score?

Updated: Mar 5

Yes, IIM Ahmedabad accepts the GMAT Score. If you are an international applicant or an Indian studying or working overseas and seeking to apply to the IIM Ahmedabad 2 year MBA - PGP program in India, you can submit the GMAT score. Also, if you have a work experience of more than four years, you can apply to IIM Ahmedabad PGPX course through the GMAT score.

In addition as an overseas applicant you have more options to apply to an MBA in India. The options vary based on your work experience, background, and expectations, including the duration of the MBA program - whether it's a one-year or a two-year program - or if you have recently graduated and are considering pursuing an MBA.

Depending on your career stage, the available options will differ for overseas candidates.

If you have up to two or three years of work experience, there are various programs you can apply to in India. To apply, you typically need to provide a GMAT score. Many programs accept both the GMAT and GRE scores, although the GMAT is often preferred and may provide eligibility for a broader range of programs compared to the GRE.

For individuals currently studying undergraduate or postgraduate courses abroad who intend to return to India after gaining work experience, the Indian School of Business (ISB) offers two notable deferred MBA options: the ISB Young Leaders Program and the ISB Early Entry Option.

The Young Leaders Program is designed for final and pre-final year students still pursuing their education. Applicants can apply to this program and join the ISB class after acquiring 20 months of work experience post-graduation. The application process consists of three stages, requiring submission of a GMAT or GRE score at the second stage, while the first stage does not necessitate a GMAT or GRE score.

If you have graduated and possess less than 24 months of work experience, you can apply to the ISB Early Entry Option. The process for applying to the ISB Early Entry Option mirrors that of the main PGP program. You will join the course once you have gained the mandated 24 months of work experience. These are two options if you have less than 24 months of work experience.

Additionally, you can apply to the IIM Ahmedabad PGP or the PGP FABM program. Both are two-year MBA programs with separate eligibility criteria and application processes for overseas Indian candidates and those holding international passports.

If you possess an international passport and a GMAT score of 700 with a minimum IR of five, you can apply to the two-year MBA program through a special process.

Conversely, if you are an overseas Indian candidate without an international passport but holding an Indian passport, you can apply through a separate process designed for overseas Indian candidates with a minimum GMAT score of 720.

The third option to consider is the IIM Calcutta PGP program, another two-year MBA program. Criteria for applying through the GMAT include being a foreign citizen or an Indian citizen living or working abroad during the application period and being unable to write the CAT exam. A competitive GMAT score, expected to be around 760, is required, with a deadline usually in January.

Moving on, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore offers two-year MBA programs: the PGP and the Business Analytics programs. Both can be applied to through the GMAT or GRE score.

Another option is offered by IIM Kozhikode, where you can apply to three programs: the PGP 2-year MBA program, the PGP Finance, and the PGP Liberal Studies, all of which are two-year MBA programs. These programs allow you to submit your GMAT or GRE scores if you are a foreign citizen or an Indian citizen living or studying abroad.

These options provide avenues for applicants to pursue their MBA aspirations based on their unique circumstances and qualifications, all through the common pathway of the GMAT or GRE score.

You can apply to the SPJIMR PGDM 2-year MBA program if you have less than 5 years of work experience. Additionally, you can apply to the Master's Union program, which is a 16-month program. For this program, you can apply through the GMAT, GRE, CAT, or the exam conducted by Master's Union. Candidates are expected to have between two to five years of work experience.

BITSOM MBA is another 2-year MBA program where you can apply through the CAT, GMAT, or GRE scores. Similarly, you can apply to the IIM Indore PGP program, a 2-year full-time MBA program. International passport holders can submit a GMAT score with a minimum of 700 to apply to this program.

If you have work experience and seek a program of shorter duration, you can still apply through the GMAT or GRE scores. One option is the ISB Early Entry Option, available if you have less than 24 months of experience.

If your work experience exceeds 24 months, you are eligible for the ISB PGP program, a full-time one-year MBA program, which you can apply to through the GMAT or GRE.

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad offers the PGPX program, which you can apply to through the GMAT or GRE scores. Only in-center scores are acceptable for the IIMA PGPX program, and a minimum of four years of work experience is required. The last deadline for this program is usually in December for submission of your application.

Another option is the IIM Calcutta MBAEX program, where only in-center GMAT exams are accepted. A minimum of five years of work experience is required, with the class average being around 8 years.

You can also consider the IIM Bangalore EPGP program, a one-year MBA program requiring a minimum of five years of full-time work experience. Online test scores are not acceptable for this program.

IIM Kozhikode PGP-BL program, a one-year MBA program that you can apply to with a minimum of three years of work experience. The average work experience is around 5 to 5.6 years. Similarly, IIM Indore EPGP, a one-year MBA program requiring a minimum of five years of work experience.

There are more options available for applicants with GMAT or GRE scores, such as the IIM Lucknow IPMX program, the IIM Shillong PGPX program, and the SPJIMR PGPM program. Each program has its own specific requirements and duration.

Therefore, based on your career stage, type of work experience, and expectations, whether you prefer a 2-year or one-year MBA program, and depending on the test scores you are taking - GMAT, GRE, or CAT - you have various options to apply to for MBA programs in India.
