1. What is the IIMB Test?
The IIMB Test is an entrance examination conducted by IIM Bangalore for candidates applying to its PhD and PGPEM programmes. It is an online, proctored test that candidates take from a secure, isolated environment using a desktop or laptop with a working webcam and a stable internet connection.
2. What does the test cover, and how long does it run?
The test has two sections, Verbal and Quantitative, and runs for a total of two hours.
3. Will I receive an admit card?
No. Since the test is conducted online, no admit card is issued. Candidates instead receive a test access link on the day of the examination.
4. Will I get a scorecard after the test?
No. IIMB does not share a scorecard with candidates. The test score is used solely for internal evaluation as part of the admission process.
5. Does applying for PGPEM or PhD automatically register me for the IIMB Test?
No. Registering for the IIMB Test and applying for the PGPEM or PhD programme are two separate steps. Applicants must register for the test through the Admissions webpage and separately submit the programme application through the notified online application, both within the stipulated deadlines.
6. What are the IIMB test dates for the 2027 batch?
Two test dates are notified for admission to the 2027 batch.
IIMB Test 1 is on October 25, 2026 (Sunday), with a registration deadline of October 22, 2026, 5:00 PM IST.
IIMB Test 2 is on January 31, 2027 (Sunday), with a registration deadline of January 23, 2027, 5:00 PM IST.
Both tests run from 10 am to 12 noon, online.
7. How does the IIMB test date connect to PGPEM application rounds?
For PGPEM, applicants who appear in Test 1 (October 25, 2026) and submit their application in Round 1 are considered only for the Round 1 process. Applicants planning to submit in Round 2 may appear for either or both IIMB tests; if a candidate takes the test twice, only the higher score is considered.
An applicant can apply for PGPEM in one round only. Applying in both rounds leads to disqualification from both.
8. Can PhD applicants take the test more than once?
Yes. PhD applicants may take the IIMB Test either once or twice. If taken twice, only the higher score is considered during admission.
9. What happens if I register but miss the IIMB test?
If an applicant opts for the first round or first test but is unable to attend for any reason, the test fee already paid is forfeited. To appear again, whether for the second PGPEM round or a second PhD attempt, the test fee must be paid again.
10. What is the receipt number for, and where does it go?
Registration for the IIMB Test generates a receipt number. This number must be entered in the PGPEM or PhD online application form before submission.
11. What is the test fee?
The IIMB Test fee is Rs 1,200 for each test attempt, and it is non-refundable.
12. Is the IIMB Test the only route into PGPEM?
No. PGPEM accepts scores from four tests: CAT, GMAT, GRE, and the IIMB Test. At the time of application, the candidate specifies which test score is being used.
13. What are the eligibility requirements for IIM Bangalore PGPEM?
A bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST, and PwD categories) is required, along with a minimum of six years of full-time work experience as on March 31, 2027, counted after the bachelor's degree. Part-time work and internships, paid or unpaid, during a programme of study do not count as eligible experience.
14. How do CAT, GMAT, and GRE scores factor in if I don't take the IIMB Test?
Applicants using CAT must indicate this in the CAT 2026 application form, and their CAT score is used for the PGPEM Round 2 application. Applicants using GMAT must have their score sent to IIMB using code Q9HKK-32, and GRE applicants use code 1681. In both cases, sending the score electronically is mandatory, and the official scorecard or test-taker copy must also be submitted with the application. Online GMAT or GRE exams, taken at home, are not accepted for this cycle.
15. What documents does the IIMB PGPEM application require?
The required documents include SSC, HSC, and bachelor's degree transcripts, the bachelor's degree certificate, a GMAT or GRE scorecard where applicable, a statement of purpose, work experience letters or first and last payslips showing date of joining, category certificates where applicable (SC, ST, NC-OBC, EWS, or PwD with UDID), and two online reference letters.
16. How does the PGPEM selection process work after the application is submitted?
The process runs in two stages. Stage I is the online application itself; only applications that are complete and meet the minimum academic and experience criteria move forward, and shortlisted candidates are called for an interview and a writing ability test. Stage II assigns each interviewed applicant a composite score built from multiple factors, and offers are made based on this score, subject to seat availability and cutoff requirements set by the Admissions Committee.
17. What is the full IIMB PGPEM 2027-29 timeline?
IIMB PGPEM Round 1 applications run June 15 to October 22, 2026, paired with IIMB Test 1 on October 25, 2026. Interviews are tentatively November 21 and 22, 2026, with offers by December 2, acceptance by December 11, and withdrawal by December 18.
IIMB PGPEM Round 2 applications run October 24, 2026 to January 27, 2027, paired with IIMB Test 2 on January 31, 2027. Interviews are tentatively February 13 and 14, 2027, with offers by February 25, acceptance by March 8, and withdrawal by March 15.
The application fee is Rs 1,500 per round, non-refundable, in addition to any IIMB Test fee if that route is chosen. Interviews are held in Bengaluru, with online interviews arranged for applicants based outside India.
